part 1 & 2 complete
Every dog knows how to sit, but how they sit can be an issue. Some people believe that a crooked sit can lead to spinal and hip issues. I’m not sure if I buy that, but I like my dogs to have a perfect sit.
This, PERFECT SIT, means more than just sitting when I tell the dog, it also means sitting in a particular way that looks powerful.
I remember my mom telling me when I was young, “Sit straight!” I never forgot that! And when I started in dog obedience, I remember one of my first coaches telling me about this “TUCK SIT.” I never forgot it and have seen lots of competitors loose points for crooked sits and overall, the dog just looks sloppy.
